NameCheap always has great prices on domain names. Secure a domain name for your business that sends exactly the right message, with low-priced registration and great service from Namecheap today. Register your domain as low as $3.98/year.


Go Daddy Logo

I only use Go Daddy for domain purchase. I’m not a big fan of their hosting. You can purchase a domain with go daddy for approximately $9.99.


1and1 Logo

1and1 is another name that offers great rates on domain names especially for purchasing new domain names. Through 1and1 you can purchase domain names for $0.99 for the first year. Free domain with hosting package.

HostGator

This is personally the company this site is hosted on. Very reliable and excellent customer service. On top of all that, they offer very affordable prices. I’m very happy with HostGator and highly recommend them.


BlueHost
Another very popular web hosting company that I’ve used, and one that I also recommend for my many clients. They have affordable prices, plenty features, and some hosting plans come with a domain name as well.

Text Editors

A list of some great text editors I’ve used throughout my web design career. These Text Editors help identify bad code, and speeds up productivity .

 

Adobe Dreamweaver

This is personally my favorite text editor and the one I currently use. I’ve used plenty, but Dreamweaver comes with all the features I need in a text editor. It actually comes with a ton that I don’t even use.


TextPad

I was using textPad prior to learning about Dreamweaver. Its a great text editor with plenty of features, and is free to use. Great for those starting out, as you’re not overwhelmed with all the extra bells and whistles.


Coda

Coda is a text editor that I found to be easy to use as well. If you’re using a mac, I definitely would recommend Coda. I used it on a Mac, and really enjoyed it, although my primary system is PC.


Text Wrangler

TextWrangler is another good Mac text editor. I was using TextWrangler prior to switching over to Coda. It’s considered the little brother to BBEdit.


Sublime Text

Sublime is another amazing text editor that I have installed on my PC. I have about 4 different text editors, and Sublime is one of them. Has great features, and very easy on the eyes to work with.

Genesis Framework

If you’ve worked with WordPress, then I’m sure you’ve heard of StudioPress’ Genesis Framework. This is an amazing framework designed specifically for StudioPress’ child themes, which they offer plenty of.


Elegant Themes

Elegant Themes is another company that offer a ton of very professional premium themes you can use with WordPress. I just started working with their Divi Theme Builder and absolutely love it.


DIY Themes
DIY Themes also offer professional themes for your WordPress site. DIY Themes is wwell known for their Thesis Theme, and the new Thesis 2.


ThemeForest
Theme Forest is a hub that offers a ton of different themes for your convenience. You can buy or sell on theme forest. I’ve purchased several themes for clients from Theme Forest.

Adobe Photoshop

Now do I really need to get into discussing Photoshop? I’m sure whether you’ve done web design or not, you’ve heard of Adobe Photoshop. Well, just know that I use Photoshop 75% of the time.<

Adobe Illustrator

Illustrator is the other graphics program I use the other 25% of the time in my web design endeavors. Another great program, that I specifically use for vector design.


DollarPhotoClub
Dollar Photo Club is a great place to get stock photos from. They offer all of their images for $1. You can’t beat that. Images you have legal rights to use, with over 100,000 images added each week.


Dreamstime
Dreamstime is the other photo stock website I use for images. They have a tons of categorized photos to choose from with rock bottom prices. You can’t go wrong with them.


Icon Finder
Need some icons for your website? No matter what kind of icons you need, you’ll find them at Icon Finder. Tons of absolutely free icons, and some premium icons. I’ve used them for years, and have never purchased a single icon.

Email Marketing, Lists, & Traffic Tools

Aweber Email Marketing

I currently use Aweber for all my email marketing needs. Very helpful documentations, very easy to use, and offers all the features I was looking for from a email marketing company. Very dependable!


MailChimp

Mailchimp is another great email marketing company. I started off with Mailchimp as they offer free lists up to approximately 200 subscribers, then they charge a monthly fee. Very good company with lots of features.


Google Analytics
Everyone with a website should know about Google Analytics. Its a service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Its the most widely used web analytics service on the internet.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEMRush SEO & PPC Toolkit
SEMRush is a company designed to put you ahead of the competition. You can search your competitors websites and then they generate keywords to stand out. I’ve never personally used them for any of my personal websites, but have used them for clients. Based on their feedback, it was quite impressive.
